# How to Sign “Winter” in Sign Language

Snow falling, animals in hibernation, winter break, all the holidays! Many coworkers or classmates may be off on a vacation for the holidays during winter time. This sign represents the cold weather. In fact, it’s the same sign as “COLD.”

## Signing “Winter”
1. Hand shape: Start with your hands in an “S” handshape.
2. Hand location: Bring your hands in front of your body at about chest level. Fists up, elbows down.
3. Movement: Shake your hands inward, as if enacting shivering.
4. Facial expression: Keep a neutral facial expression. If you are talking about winter being cold, make sure your face looks uncomfortable and almost grimacing.
